How it works

Getting supplies through AADL

  1. 1

    Get assessed

An AADL-approved health care professional (an "authorizer") assesses your needs and decides what equipment and supplies AADL will fund.

  2. 2

    Get authorized

The authorizer approves funding for the products you need. AADL does not reimburse items bought before you are assessed and authorized.

  3. 3

    Choose a vendor

You can buy from any AADL-approved vendor and change vendors at any time. Pharmasave Lynnwood is an approved vendor for the categories listed above.

Cost sharing and eligibility

  • AADL is a cost-share program. According to the Government of Alberta, clients pay 25% of the benefit cost, up to a maximum of $500 per individual or family per year.
  • Low-income Albertans and people receiving income assistance do not pay the cost-share portion.
  • There are no income requirements to qualify. You need a valid Alberta Health Care card and a need lasting 6 months or longer.
  • You may not be eligible if comparable benefits are available from another source, such as Veterans Affairs, WCB, NIHB or private insurance.

Read the full details on AADL eligibility and applying (opens in a new tab) and the AADL program page (opens in a new tab) at alberta.ca.

We don't decide eligibility

Eligibility, authorization and the amount AADL funds are decided by the AADL program and your authorizer, not by the pharmacy. For questions about the program, contact AADL or call Health Link at 811.
